5 Tips for Shopping the Alameda Antique Faire

The Alameda Point Antique Faire is tomorrow, Sunday April 3rd! There will be 800 plus vendors and no shortage of treasures to be found.  I am excited to bring all of my painted furniture and reupholstered pieces to the show.  The weather is going to be beautiful and the crowds large.  Having been on both sides of the antique faire I thought I would share some tips for an enjoyable day of treasure hunting.  Read More
5 Tips for shopping the Alameda Antique Faire

1. Bring Cash

Cash is key at events like this, some vendors do carry a card reader but cash is always preferred.  Every price is negotiable and having cash on hand will most likely score you a better deal on your new found treasure. Don't just go to an ATM and pull out a bunch of $20's make sure to have plenty of small bills on hand too.  Should you find a gem that you can't live without but are short on the green don't fret there are ATM's stationed around the faire.

2. Dress in Layers

Tomorrow is going to be a beautiful day on Alameda, but when in the Bay Area dressing in layers is a must! The day will start off cold, the clouds and fog will eventually burn off and the sun will come out.  By the time you leave the faire you will probably be carrying most of your clothes.  Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, you will be doing A LOT of walking!

3. Stay Hydrated

The faire will have plenty of food and beverage options, everything from your traditional faire snacks to some of the Bay Areas best food trucks!  I like to pack water and snacks so I can spend all my cash on vintage goodies! I am a pretty quick shopper and it takes me about three hours to get all the way through the faire.  If you are interested in stopping at every booth and sorting through all of the boxes of trinkets make sure you give yourself enough time to enjoy the hunt!

4. Be Prepared for the Crowd

The Alameda Point Antique Faire is the first Sunday of every month.  Last month was rained out so this Sunday is going to be a big event.  Be prepared for large crowds by practicing patience and understanding.  People will stop dead in their tracks right in front of you, they will cut you off with large carts and they will be oblivious to all of it.  But! You will find some great treasures!  Here are a few of the items I will have in my Booth (E20) tomorrow!  Stop by, say Hello, and show me what great hidden gems you have found!

5. Leave Your Pets at Home

Please leave your pets at home.  Not only are they not allowed on the Naval Base (the faire is not permitted for them) but they are in danger of being stepped on, kicked or rolled over by a large cart.  We all love our furry family members so keep them safe by leaving them at home.

Extra Credit

If you want to fit in like a pro bring a couple of tote bags for your purchases and toss a bottle of sunscreen in your bag!

See you tomorrow from 6am - 4pm at BOOTH E20
Thank you for following along and see you next week!
