4th of July Blue & Gold

Happy Independence Day!  Today I am going to share with you the before, during and after of this three drawer dresser.  When I first brought the dresser home it wasn't too bad, the paint was "eh" but for the most part the dresser's bones were in great shape.        

I knew right away I wanted to paint the dresser a deep blue with gold accents, however the gentleman at the paint store was not entirely friendly and quite careless resulting in the shade of blue you see below.  This is not the blue I selected to have mixed... nevertheless after sanding and a coat of primer I continued forward with many coats of the blue until I was happy with the tone.

On to the gold accents!  Let me set the scene for you... A Tuesday night, a glass of wine, HGTV on the screen and me painting gold into the many grooves of the dresser.  There are many reasons why I love working for myself, but this may be my favorite!

After a few coats of gold to the dresser and a touch to the glass drawer pulls I finished the dresser with a protective clear coat and put the pieces back together!
